Apple does not allow third-party runtimes on the iPhone OS, thereby excluding Flash, Java, .NET and Silverlight. Learn how .NET developers can nevertheless code for the iPhone OS using C# and a subset of the BCL, using Novell’s MonoTouch and the magic of static compilation. The meeting will be followed by pizza and drinks. Note the different location for this meeting. Provoke are very kindly hosting us this month. Please RSVP to kirkj@paradise.net.nz (more)

Mike Bluestein writes a blog post about a port he did of a fast scrolling example done in Objective-C. This shows you how you can enable fast scrolling in your applications (the main thing to note is CustomTableViewCell.DrawContentView). He also provides a link to the source. (more)

"Simon Basic Edition", my first MonoTouch application has been published on the AppStore today. It's a modest application, but I learned a bunch of things. It was interesting to go all the way through, from downloading MonoTouch five weeks ago, to receiving the notification today. There is lots of room for improvements and I thought about many other features. But I wanted to ship it and at least, I can now take it from there. As a friend of mine often tells me (check http://www.clearoffice.com to see ... (more)

Craig Dunn writes a blog post entry where he provides a placemat for the Roget's 1922 Thesaurus sample. He also provides a quick link to the source so you can easily download it. The placemat is a nice way of showing people how his sample is structured and I hope we get to see more of them in the future as they are actually quite useful! Thanks Craig. (more)
