I did a recent tweet poll to see if learning at least a basic level of Objective-C would make you a better MonoTouch developer. The overwhelming response was YES. A lot of the answers were from the developers who have been writing great MonoTouch content. After reporting the results back via Twitter I ordered two books and this was one of them. This book is just now being released and I really like the style of the Head First books. I haven't read any reviews about it but I've read another Head First boo... (more)

Martin Bowling does a great video about the UIImagePickerController. The video is practically 16 minutes long and he also provides the source code. Great work! "The UIImagePickerController is a must for creating iPhone apps, everyone loves taking pictures and sharing them with their friends :). The UIImagePickerController is the ViewController responsible for allowing the user to either Take a Photo or to Choose a Photo from their Photo Library. And utilizing it in your code is extremely easy." (more)

We could have choosen an Empty MonoTouch Project; but choosing the iPhone MonoTouch Project does a little bit of the work for us :) Name the project and hit forward. Now we need to add a View Interface Definition with Controller, right click (or is it called two finger click on a Mac?) on the project name, then goto Add File .. I called mine MiniBrowserViewController; but of course you can call yours whatever you'd like. Building the UI with Interface BuilderI know so... (more)

MonoTouch News - MonoTouch 1.2 with debugging released!

Brent Schooley posts an entry talking about (and showing some screenshots of) the new debugger support in MonoTouch 1.2. This has been a hard secret to keep when I saw the first screenshot but I am thrilled that the secret is now out as debugging support has been one of the things I have heard most often as a reason NOT to get MonoTouch. Well that point is now here and debugging support is baked in. (more)
